Nazi Bible minus the Book of Esther

On a number of TV documentaries I've heard that there was a Bible published in Nazi Germany that, among other egregious offenses, deliberately omitted the Book of Esther. This wouldn't be any surprise, seeing as the message of Esther is that terrible things happen to people who try to annihilate the Jews; however, I haven't been able to find any substantiation for this assertion. In light of the fact that many TV documentaries have rather substandard fact-checking, can anyone give me evidence from a more substntial source that such a Bibe was actually published in Nazi Germany?

Re: Nazi Bible minus the Book of Esther

After rather frustrating attempts to get an answer to the question I posted regarding the Book of Esther, I finally got the following from the Simon Wiesenthal Center:

Thank you form your inquiry. In his attempt to paganize
Christianity,Hitler ordered several thousand copies of the Bible to
be printed deleting all references to Jews(one can assume,I suppose,
that this meant the deletion of the entire book of Esther) and even
re-writing the Ten Commandments. The project went over like a lead
balloon, however, and the churches didn't bite. I have never seen any
of the Bibles myself, but from what I understand most found their way
into trash bins.I wish I could cite specific references, but Ican't
put my finger on any one.

Re: Nazi Bible minus the Book of Esther

Here's one last bit on the Nazi reaction to the Book o Esther. A Nazi propagandist by the name of Robert Ley wrote a pamphlet in 1944 titled "The Pestilential Miasma of the World," which, of course, referred to Judaism. In it, he wrote the following:

In the Book of Esther we read that in one bloody night the Jews slaughtered and destroyed 75,000 Persians. Even today, the Jew celebrates Purim to commemorate his great triumph.

I suspect, given the date of publication, within a year of the end of World War II, that this might have been used as a justification for the genocide of the Holocaust, should word of its extent ever get out.
