Failed old testament prophecies

Isaiah 19:18 - In that day five cities in Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the LORD Almighty. One of them will be called the City of Destruction.

There has never been a time when five cities in Egypt spoke the language of Canaan

Are there any failed prophecies that you found after you wrote your book?

I can't say that I looked for a whole lot of them after I finished the book. A bit after it was done I started work on Secret Origins of the Bible.

One New Testament prophecy I might not have included in the first book would be when Jesus, in the Gospel of Matthew, tells that he will return in the lifetime of his disciples (Mt. 10:23):

When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next; for truly, I say to you, you will not have fled through all the towns of Israel before the Son of man comes.

I think I also left out Rev. 1:1a (emphasis added):

The revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave him to show to his servants what must soon come to pass . . . .

There are so many verses in the New Testament of an apocalyptic nature, indicating that the early Christians believed the end would come in their own lifetimes that it's easy to miss a few.

ETA: Of course, these are New Testament prophesies as opposed to Old Testament prophecies.

Isaiah 19:23 - In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together.

The Egyptians and Assyrians did not worship Yahweh.

Thank you for looking that one up. Not only Is. 19:23, but Isaiah 19 in general seems to have been meant to be an apocalyptic prophecy. It's interesting to note that, not surprisingly, Isaiah saw his apocalypse in terms of the powers of his day, just as John of Patmos saw it in terms of the Romans and Parthians, the powers of his day, when he wrote the Book of Revelation.

It's always rather amusing to me when end-times prophets, such as Hal Lindsey and Chuck Missler, try to explain why America can't be found in the scriptures. They can fudge the Common Market and the European Community as being the modern day Roman Empire, while the Russians are the Scythians (i.e. Gog and Magog), but they're usually stuck saying that America isn't in end-times prophecy because it will have been absorbed by the Neo-Roman Empire (the European Community) under the rule of the antichrist, by that time. Of course, the real reason America isn't in the Bible is that the authors of its books knew nothing of the western hemisphere.
